A Chilli So Hot That It Could Kill You Is Set To Be Used As Anaesthetic

When it comes to spice, you either sit on the ‘I fucking love it’ side of the fence, or the ‘even a korma is too hot for me’ side of things.

There doesn’t seem to be any in between. Personally, I love spice. The spicier the better. But this chilli would completely fuck me over.

This guy decided it was a good idea to bathe in 1,250 bottles of hot-sauce but survived…

The chilli, however, aptly named ‘Dragon’s Breath’, is record breaking due to its Scoville scale measurement of over 2.48m. Bloody hell.

Mike Smith, from St Asaph, in North Wales, first started growing chillies and veggies seven years ago. His latest creation could send you into anaphylactic shock, as once eaten, it could burn the airways and close them up.

So why did he make it in the first place?

Well, it was developed in a partnership with Nottingham Trent University to be used as an anaesthetic as the oils that come off it are so potent they can numb the skin, reports the Mirror.

Mike said: “This was developed because a lot of people are allergic to anaesthetic, and this can be applied to the skin because it is so strong it numbs it.”

It could also be used in developing countries as access to pain relief drugs can be limited due to cost.

Mike, 53, said: “It’s not been tried orally. I’ve tried it on the tip of my tongue and it just burned and burned. I spat it out in about 10 seconds.

“The heat intensity just grows.”

If you fancy checking it out, it’s going to be on display at the Chelsea Flower Show between May 23 and 27.
